Cromwell Models
Cromwell Models were one of the first UK based producers to start using the polyurethene resins, rather than the harder, more brittle polyester. A Merkava was there first one, a model that was stunning at the time, but if you look at there latest versions of the same subject, you can see how far the production process has come on over 20 years or so, and makes those early ones look quite basic. Cromwell also developed their 1/76 Combat Ready series from their original range. This features models aimed at wargamers, being simple to assemble, from having fewer parts, but with the detail still there but being moulded with fewer sub-components. Again, casting techniques and materials have made advances possible. Check out their modern Israeli vehicles if you want something really unusual, but subjects from WW1 to the present days are all available in their range.
There is just no substitute for visiting the real battlefields of WW2 in Europe if you have an opportunity to do so.
