Airfix have been though some ups and downs since their early days, but they were the real starting point for the first 1/76 scale models, with their WW1 tank starting it all off, back in the early 1960s. The original range is still available, though some now clearly show their age against current production standards. Some are still good, and others maybe less so these days. They still offer a foundation for many conversion projects. Recent releases like the GMC Truck, and the newer Jeep are excellent. Most recently, they have also taken on the JB Models series of post-WW2 British subjects (plus the Vickers Light Tank) and released them under the Airfix banner. You have to accept the age of some of these kits ( from when they were first manufactured) and I for one am thankful they remain accessible to the marketplace.

There is just no substitute for visiting the real battlefields of WW2 in Europe if you have an opportunity to do so.
